Now thieves target churches

A SENIOR police officer has described the theft from a local church as, ‘an all time low’, and a ‘despicable act.’ Inspector Roy Robinson was reacting to the theft of £250 worth of heating oil from the Church of Ireland church hall at Tamlaght, and the theft of money and a mobile phone from a Church of Ireland rectory in Derrylin. Police do not believe the incidents to be connected. An angry Inspector Robinson condemned the two incidents: “The people who are carrying out these acts have no respect for the place of worship, and don’t take into account what it means to people. They should remember the commandment, ‘thou shalt not steal’.”
