Name for new hospital unveiled

THE range of services to be offered at the £270m new hospital in Enniskillen has been set out in tandem with the building being given its official new name, the South West Acute Hospital.
Services are to include 24/7 emergency services, critical care services, inpatient medicine, and major and emergency surgery. It will include paediatric services, day-case surgery, a comprehensive range of diagnostics, including radiology and laboratory tests and a wide range of outpatient services.
It will also offer maternity services including consultant-led and midwife-led care and a 24 hour epidural service.
Due to be completed in May and open on June 22, the new site was recently visited by the Health Minister Edwin Poots. He also visited the Western Trust’s recruitment fair in Enniskillen, where 100 new jobs in portering, catering, housekeeping and laundry, were on offer for the new hospital.
Built on a 52-acre site with a capital investment of £270 million from the Department of Health, the new 300-bed hospital will begin admitting patients in June, three years after construction began.
