Police accused of heavy-handed response to Quinn attacks

January 25, 2012 at 10:02 am

AN EX-EMPLOYEE of the Quinn Group has complained to the Herald of ‘police heavy handedness in the Derrylin/Kinawley area in their search for evidence of those behind the ongoing acts of vandalism in the area.

The man, who asked not to be named for fear of reprisals, said he condemned such actions but was highly critical of local politicians for not raising the issue of local people having their homes searched and being questioned by the PSNI.
“Over the last number of months, dozens of people have been arrested, their property searched and items of property confiscated, mobile phones, chainsaws, even money, all in connection with damage caused to Quinn Group property.
“Harassment is the order of the day in this area, in fact it’s as bad as whern the Troubles were at their height, but nobody seems to care.
