Despicable’ attack on schoolboy

January 25, 2012 at 10:04 am

POLICE have described an attack that has left an 18-year-old man from the Teemore area hospitalised for the last three days as ‘vicious, despicable and totally unprovoked’.

The man who was out in Enniskillen with friends on Saturday night, sustained two black eyes, severe cuts and had blood running from his right ear when he was admitted to the Erne Hospital following the assault in the car park outside Dunnes Stores in the early hours of Sunday morning. He was expected to get out of hospital yesterday.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of what happened but say the victim had emerged on his own from the China City take-away on Forthill Street, what at night time is dubbed ‘chippy street’ before going over to Dunnes Stores.

An unknown man then contacted the victim’s friend to say they had saw him staggering outside the Dunnes Stores area after having been attacked. It is thought to have happened sometime between 1.30-3am.
